Destiny 2 Players Theorize Primary Infinite Ammo is Coming
With Destiny 2's season 15 update on the horizon, fans of the first person MMO are on the look out for what the new patch might offer, and any major changes Bungie may have for the game. Season 14 is winding down, and certain balance changes have been occurring over the last few seasons that may indicate the implementation of infinite ammo to Destiny 2 according to reddit theorizers.
Season 14 of Destiny 2 saw the return of fan-favorite Destiny dungeon, Vault of Glass, make a return, with a race for clans to become the first to complete the instance and secure themselves some sweet loot in the process. Season 14 also added a number of new weapons, an update to the game's transmog system, and of course, a new battle pass. With season 15 already promising massive features, such as the addition of crossplay to Destiny 2, fans are expecting it to be one of the game's more major updates.
Reddit has been aflutter with theories regarding the new seasonal content for Destiny 2, recently, with many coming about in response to Bungie's announcement of crossplay and balance changes to Destiny 2's subclasses. Notably, certain perks have been seeing changes that fans have noticed seem to point to an oft-requested feature: infinite ammo. Certain perks like Drop Mag and Inertia Override have been rebalanced, with Drop Mag no longer rolling on new drops of weapons due to having its "functionality changed later," and Inertia Override receiving what appears to be a large buff, which users are theorizing may be as compensation for infinite ammo lessening the perks' overall effectiveness.
Along with some other subtle changes that users have noticed, these alterations to perks for primary weapons could indicate that primaries will be receiving infinite ammo as a basic feature. While infinite ammo has been available in Destiny 2 due to glitches in the past, it has never been a part of the actual game, with many requesting the feature as a way to streamline the mod experience by reworking the primary weapon ammo perks, as well as reducing the grindiness of certain encounters.
For most MMO fans, the idea of a more streamlined experience is certainly going to be great, however, a change like infinite ammo would likely be a huge shift in balance for Destiny 2, and could require a whole host of other changes in order to make it work. With season 15 already bringing crossplay into the mix, as well as a vast array of balance changes, it could end up being one the biggest patches for the game to date.
Destiny 2 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X
